Firemen controlling forest fires in nine locations in Perak

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department is controlling the forest fire in nine locations in the state Friday.

Its public relations officer, Mohd Fadli Nik Abu, said the locations included at Kilometre 16 JRTB, Kilometre 16 Gerik, Tanjung Rambai in Gerik, Estet Ganda in Teluk Intan, Perlop in Sungai Siput, Bukit Bintang in Selama, Gunung Lang in Ipoh and Kampung Sinju Jalan Cameron Highland.

"The area of the fire has reduced and the situation is returning to normalcy," he added.

He said the department had been able to complete douse the fire at three locations at Kilometre 11 Gerik, including the garbage dumping ground at Changkat Jong.

However, the fire and rescue personnel were still there to monitor the situation, he added.

Today's operation involved 181 personnel, including from the Civil Defence Department.
