KUALA KRAI:A freshwater fish farmer in Kampung Kenor here suffered more than RM400,000 in losses when thousands of the patin fish and catfish he had been rearing in ponds escaped after the area was hit by floods in the last three days.
Mohd Sharif Che Hak, 62, said he lost about 80,000 fish when they were swept away by floodwaters on Friday.
He said this was the second time he had suffered losses this way.
During the 2014 floods, he lost about 100,000 fish worth RM600,000.
Mohd Sharif, a government retiree, now hopes the relevant authorities would pay attention to his situation.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob reminded those in flood-hit areas to cooperate with the authorities by complying to directives.
“If you are asked to evacuate, then just do it, the same goes if you are asked to close your shops. Do not take the directives lightly, because the situation can be unpredictable,” he said when met by reporters at Kompleks Darul Naim here yesterday.
