Former ministry woman officer remanded over graft probe

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today obtained a court order to remand for six days a former divisional secretary of a ministry to assist in the probe into the alleged misappropriation of almost RM180 million related to projects in Sabah.
Magistrate Aida Khairuleen Azli issued the order for MACC to remand the 40-year-old woman from today to Oct 11.
The woman, who was brought to court today at 9.30 am, was arrested at 8.15 pm yesterday at the Putrajaya MACC headquarters.
She is reportedly one of three people detained by the MACC yesterday to help in the investigation into the case.
The two others detained are a vice-president of a Sabah party, who is also a businessman, and a 52-year-old businessman, also from Sabah.
The party leader was held at the Sabah MACC office when he went to give a statement at 6.40 pm while the other businessman was detained, also at the Sabah MACC office, at 8.45 pm.
Also yesterday, the MACC froze RM29 million in the latest move over the probe into the misappropriation of funds in Sabah.
More than RM150 million was reportedly seized on Oct 4 in operations carried out by investigating officers at 15 locations in Sabah.
