Free school bus service for PPR residents on the cards

The Federal Territories Ministry is in talks with bus Nadi to provide free bus service for children at People's Housing Projects (PPR) around the capital from next year.

Its minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the service would be be fully managed by the company, and the costs borne by the ministry.

"If there's an agreement, the free school buses will be coordinated with certain colours and themes for the exclusive use of children living in PPRs," he told reporters after handing over the keys of units in Apartment Seri Ceria 1 and 2 to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) staff here, today.

He said in addition to that, a free bus service to train stations would also be discussed with the bus operator for the convenience PPR residents.

Meanwhile, DBKL has offered a total of 632 low cost units in Block G and H of PPRs in the suburb of Bukit Jalil named Apartment Seri Ceria to eligible employees, to help them own a home.

Earlier, Tengku Adnan in his speech said that to date, a total of 522 units were offered to buyers through financing from the Public Sector Housing Financing Agency, bank loans, and EPF savings.

"DBKL has also set the price of the houses at RM42,000 per unit, with an area of 650sqft, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

"The units were handed out to DBKL staff through a draw, and the offer letters were issued in August," he said.

Apart from that, he said, 330 units at Apartment Mutiara Magna, Kepong, and 144 units at Warisan City View Apartment, Jalan Cheras, were also sold to DBKL staff.

In another development, Tengku Adnan said 12 multilevel parking lots for PPRs to be ready by next year, would be equipped with various facilities like suraus, community halls, retail shops and food courts.

The project which cost a total of RM408 million involves PPR Pekan Kepong, PPR Intan Baiduri, PPR Raya Permai, PPR Seri Pantai, PPR Kampung Baru Air Panas, PPR Hiliran Ampang Taman Mulia, PPR Desa Tun Razak, PPR Desa Petaling, PPR Semarak, as well as PPAs (Public Housing Project) in Desa Rejang, Seri Kota and Seri Sabah.
