The Fuel Issue

Mercedes-Benz has issued a circular to all their authorised dealers and service centres concerning warranty coverage for failures resulting from fuel quality on grey market vehicles.

From now on, any failures in Mercedes-Benz passenger cars brought in through unofficial channels will not be accepted under warranty by Daimler AG as they are unprepared for local fuel quality.

According to Roland Folger, the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, the cars imported from other channels are not suited to local conditions therefore resulting in failures. Whereas the cars purchased at Mercedes-Benz authorised dealers are adequately for local conditions.

The fuel quality in Malaysia does not meet the operating requirements of vehicles produced in other countries. As such imported vehicles are not suitably adapted to local fuel quality.

Mercedes-Benz is making this effort to inform the public of the risks of buying from an unauthorised dealer.
