Gas leak leaves three injured at Sogo mall

Three workers of a restaurant selling Western food at the Sogo shopping complex here were injured when a fire, believed to have been caused by a gas leak, broke out in the kitchen today.

The fire which occurred about 10am, damaged the kitchen.

The injured, who sustained burns in the hands and body, sought treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Department deputy chief Imam Bukhari Susami said six firemen and an engine were deployed to the scene.

"When we arrived, we noticed that the fire had already been put out by the public, using fire extinguishers obtained from the restaurant.

Meanwhile, sales assistant Awatif Abdullah, 29, said she heard explosions coming from the direction of the restaurant before being informed that a fire had broken out.
