The government has yet to decide on the incentive for civil servants and government retirees for the coming Aidilfitri, said Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah today.
He said the government has to look into various aspects, including its financial situation, before making its decision.
"Until today, no decision has been made on the (Aidilfitri) incentive (for civil servants and government retirees)," he told reporters at a Mobile Community Transformation programme for Kampung Selising villagers which was opened by Selising Assemblyman Zulkifli Ali here.
He refuted a report in the social websites which claimed that the government had agreed to given an incentive of RM500 each to government employees and retirees for Aidilfitri.
Last Thursday, the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) expressed its intention to meet the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to discuss the Aidilfitri bonus of half-month salary to the 1.6 million employees.
In another development, Mohd Irwan said an Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), costing RM30 million, would be opened in Kota Baharu.
The project is now 95 per cent ready and is scheduled to be opened by the prime minister after the Aidilfitri celebration, he added.
