Husam Musa takes on Tengku Adnan in Putrajaya

PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa is taking on Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general and incumbent Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in a straight fight for the Putrajaya parliamentary seat.
The announcement was made by returning officer Datuk Muhammad Haitamin Ishak at the Precinct 9 Neighbourhood Complex, after the period for receiving the nomination forms ended at 10am.
The 4,931-hectare Putrajaya parliamentary constituency was represented by Tengku Adnan since 2004 after the area was gazetted as Federal Territory in 2001. In the 2008 general election, he won with a majority of 2,734 votes, beating PAS Federal Territory commissioner Mohamad Noor Mohamad.
For Husam, other than contesting the Putrajaya parliamentary seat, he would also vie for the Salor state seat in Kelantan. He is the incumbent in Salor.
Both groups arrived at the complex at the same time, about half-an-hour before the nomination centre was opened at 9am. Both sides had about 1,500 supporters each, singing patriotic songs and shouting 'Allah Huakhbar'.
Tengku Adnan, who wore a blue Baju Melayu with samping (a knee-length sarong worn with Baju Melayu), entered the hall area as soon as it was opened, while Husam, who wore a green Baju Melayu, entered about 15 minutes later.
Tengku Adnan, met soon after the returning officer announced the list of candidates, said, based on the excellent record of work done by BN in Putrajaya, he was confident the public would put their trust in him again to continue his duty as Member of Parliament in the area.
He said he was quite shocked because at first he thought there would be independents contesting in Putrajaya.
Husam said he would use the internet as a tool to deliver his message to all during the campaign, because, according to him, the people of Putrajaya generally had access to internet.
