Rio Paralympics 2016: 7 things you should know about Latif Romly

Malaysia's long jump parathlete Abdul Latif Romly won Malaysia's third gold in the T20 category on Sunday and setting a new world record with 7.60 meters (m) jump on his fifth and final attempt.

The 19-year-old from Beseri, Perlis didn't just break the world record once, he did it three times in his attempts with records 7.47m in his second jump and 7.54m in his third jump.

Siti Noor Iasah Mohamad Ariffin has qualified for the women's 400m final in the T20 (intellectual disability) category at the Paralympics Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In the heats at the Rio Olympic Stadium on Monday, Siti Noor Iasah, 27, won the second heat in a time of 58.96s, a new Asian Record.

Two Orang Asli girls drown in river, another missing

Two Orang Asli girls drowned and another went missing in the Bidor River near Gloucester Estate during a religious ceremony attended by 30 members of the community.

Kitchen helper jailed for stealing housemate's panties

A hotel kitchen helper was sentenced to three months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here for stealing women's clothing, including underwear, belonging to his housemate.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid handed down the sentence on Mohamad Firdaus Mohsin, 27, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

Zika: Two virus strains identified in Malaysia - Health Minister

The Health Ministry has identified two types of Zika virus strains in Malaysia.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the strain from the first Zika infection case in Taman Botani in Klang, was the same as the one found in Brazil.

As for the second case in Likas, Sabah, the strain was a local type.

Pressured to down hard liquor by men, bridesmaid chokes to death in China

A merrymaking wedding reception was marred by the death of bridesmaid after she allegedly binged on heavy liquor during the event.

The bridesmaid from Hainan was allegedly pressured by a group of men seated at her table to consume 'Baijiu', a deadly concoction containing 40 to 60 per cent alcohol.

A deliberate explosion rocked an upscale and bustling neighborhood of New York on Saturday night, injuring 29 people, one seriously, a week after America's financial capital marked the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
