'I'm settled back into normal life' - MH17 first officer's wife

"I think of my husband everyday but I need to move on and be strong for my son," said Sharifah Asma'a Syed Alwi Al Junied, the wife of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 first officer, Ahmad Hakimi Hanapi.
Ahmad Hakimi was one of the 298 onboard the Boeing 777 aircraft which was shot down before crashing while en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam on July 17, 2014.
Speaking to Bernama recently, she said it had been two years since the incident and realised the need to reclaim her life for her own future and that of her son, Abderrahman, who will turn three this October.
"I am pretty much settled now. I have a full time job in the Human Resource Department of an United Nations office and also busy with my Boost Juice franchise business, both in Cyberjaya.
"There's so much to do, like preparing invoices for my business. I do think about my husband, but I have to move on with my life. Let bygones be bygones.
"Whatever brings me down, I put it away. I cannot afford to be down for the sake of my son, in-laws and everyone. I want to be strong so that people can see I have moved on," said the 31-year-old.
Looking at Aberrahman, who was watching cartoons on an iPad, Sharifah Asma'a said: "He is my life and he keeps me pretty busy as he is growing up fast, and learning and exploring new things."
She said following her husband's absence, Abderrahman became attached with her father-in-law, Dr Hanapi Mohd Noor, 68, who died last Thursday due to cancer of the gallbladder.
"It saddens me that my father-in-law is also gone now because he was very attached to Abderrahman," she added.
