Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) former special operations director, Datuk Bahri Mohd Zin is facing an accusation of abusing his power to claim his family’s inheritance.
Former Director of Islamic Science and Technology College (KIST), Noraihan Che Ali today claimed that Bahri, who is her brother-in-law had summoned a group of Putrajaya MACC personnel to raid her home on 18 Jan, 2016 and confiscated some documents on the college administration, driving academy as well grants.
“My husband passed away in Sept 2015 and left the family about RM100 million and a total debt of RM85 million.
“Soon after, a family feud to seize the inheritance among his siblings and my children occurred,” said Noraihan at a media conference here today.
Following the family feud, Noraihan said, his husband’s sister, Datin Norhaslina Abdullah, who is the wife of Bahri had asked her to sign a letter to formalise her rejection to claim the inheritance left by her husband.
Noraihan was handed a lawyer’s letter stating that she has refused to claim her late husband's inheritance. Not only her, Noraihan claimed that Bahri tried to persuade her daughter to give her thumb print in the letter.
“They (Bahri and wife) have forced me to sign the letter and even persuaded my daughter, who was only nine-years-old when my husband passed away, to issue her thumbprint on the letter. Those who insisted us to do so were Datin Norhaslinda and Bahri,” said Noraihan.
“After we refused to sign the letter, a group of MACC personnel raided my home, gazetted it and confiscated all documents concerning the college.”
Concerned for her family’s safety, she lodged a series of police reports on March 1, 2016, but no action has been taken.
Noraihan added that she has urged the Malaysian Royal Police to probe into her report and MACC to conduct a comprehensive investigation into Bahri’s alleged abuse of power.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today confirmed that the police had received the report against Bahri last year.
Investigation is ongoing and referred to the Attorney-General’s office.
“We received a report on Bahri in Kelantan. We will conduct an investigation and whatever findings will be referred to the A-G’s office for further directive,” said Khalid at a media conference after the launch of Op Selamat 10/2017 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration at Persada PLUS in Subang today.
