Barisan Nasional strategic communications director Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan urged the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) to pay particular attention to a police report lodged this morning.
According to Abdul Rahman, a complainant had lodged a report regarding the misconduct by Sarawak Report founder, Clare Rewcastle Brown.
New evidence submitted included a video testimony of a person who is directly involved in falsifying facts, publishing and the dissemination of false facts on the Sarawak Report website.
"I also urge the police to contact their Interpol counterparts and conduct a joint interrogation with the UK police on the individuals named in the video.
“This is important so that the evidence which is still in their possession is not destroyed or removed by the concerned parties,” he said in a statement today.
Abdul Rahman, who is also Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister said, he had been informed that a British national named in the video will only issue a statement if a formal investigation is launched by UK authorities.
"According to a copy of the police report, the confession in the video made by an individual also revealed the names of several opposition leaders who are allegedly working together with Clare Brown and Sarawak Report.
"A thorough investigation should be conducted to determine the truth and so that justice is served for all those involved in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said the police report had claimed that Claire Brown falsified facts regarding the 1MDB issue, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Najib’s stepson Riza Aziz, PetroSaudi International and other issues linked to the 1MDB.
"The complainant claimed of having strong evidence of certain parties executing a mission called: ‘Mission to criminilise Dato Seri Najib Razak and 1MDB’.
"Apart from that, the complainant claimed the malicious intent was to discredit the government in administering the country and incite hatred among the people towards the government,” he said.
Abdul Rahman said, he had been informed the complainant had also submitted a copy of an email to police which is alleged to have been written by Brown.
"In the email dated March 1, 2015, Claire Brown had allegedly written: “Thanks! Yes it was quite a job! .... sitting up night after night cleverly 'forging' all those documents !!!!!"
He hoped that Interpol, UK police and the RMP would investigate what had been meant by the email.
