The Istana Negara Thursday lodged a report with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over the uploading on Facebook of a photograph of a gory accident scene along with an edited picture of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Awang Kechik Abdul Rahman said the Istana Negara was much saddened by the act.
"The Istana Negara lodged a police report this morning at the Dang Wangi police station and sought the cooperation of the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate the matter and take the appropriate legal action," he said in a statement.
Media reports said an irresponsible individual had insulted Tuanku Abdul Halim by uploading a photograph of a gory accident scene along with an edited picture of His Majesty on a Facebook account.
In Shah Alam, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) described the matter by the individual of the account under the name of 'Chandra Lawan Tetap Lawan' as a barbaric act.
UiTM vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar said the owner of the account should be prosecuted so that it would serve as a lesson for the people not to tarnish the image of the Institution of the Malay Rulers.
The UiTM Alumni Association lodged a police report on the matter at the Shah Alam district police headquarters at about 3 pm, said its secretary-general Shukri Ishak.
