A special committee of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will summon committee members of the An-Nur Mosque in Kampung Melayu Subang tomorrow, to facilitate investigations into an incident involving Subang MP R. Sivarasa's speech in its prayer hall recently.
JAIS director Datuk Haris Kassim said the four-man panel was set up to investigate the matter thoroughly, as instructed by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Friday.
The committee is headed by principal assistant director (mosque division) Idris Ramli.
"The investigation tomorrow will be focused more on collecting detailed information on what actually happened on that day," he said when met by reporters here today.
Earlier, Haris accompanied the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to a ceremony to hand over Aidilfitri contributions to orphans in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts at the Makmuniah Mosque, Sungai Nipah, Simpang Lima here.
Asked if the committee would also summon Sivarasa to furnish information on the incident, Haris said the MP from PKR would be called if necessary.
On Friday, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed unhappiness at the action of Sivarasa who delivered a speech in the prayer hall of the mosque during a function on May 24.
He ordered JAIS to investigate the matter in detail and take further action against any mosque committee members who flouted rules.
On his part, Sivarasa denied delivering a political talk when attending a programme at the mosque.
