John Kerry: Malaysia is 'multi-faith' model for the world

US Secretary of State John Kerry today praised Malaysia as a multi-faith model for the world with its modern and innovative ways, and labelling it as a "valuable Muslim ally".

Citing an example, he said this was evident based on the 'open house' concept in Malaysia held during cultural holidays where people of different faiths are welcomed in each others' living rooms.

He said in Malaysia, people of various heritage have been living in harmony for a long time.

Kerry also used the Petronas Twin Towers to picture Malaysia's openness to diversity through the building’s blend of modern engineering, portraying a Malaysian vision, American architecture, traditional Muslim design and built by Asians.

Kerry, who represented US President Barack Obama, said this during his welcoming address at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2013 at the KL Convention Centre on Friday.

He also described Malaysia as more of a marketplace and a human and economic mosaic which was seen as a model for world.

Kerry was here for a two-day visit for the fourth GES 2013 beginning Friday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would open the summit, which brings together entrepreneurs from the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the United States, to provide an important platform to network, exchange experiences, knowledge and form business alliances.
