PUTRAJAYA:Lack of knowledge and awareness among society limit their inclusive involvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), according to the Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin.
Commenting on Malaysia's SDG progress monitoring system (SDG Dashboard), he said the government, private sectors, non-government organizations (NGOs) and public community have a collective responsibility towards SDG.
“It is the responsibility of everyone to preserve the environment in order for the planet to be inherited in a good state for future generations which is one of the focus areas of the SDG,” he said in a statement here today.
The Statistics Department today uploaded 128 SDG indicators at the national level and 18 indicators at the district level, with data comprised time series from 2016 to 2019.
SDG Dashboard is an initiative to promote and improve literacy related to the SDGs which provided an interactive visual that facilitated users to search for SDG indicators for 17 goals at the national level and administrative district level.
Mohd Uzir said the implementation of the 2020 Population and Housing Census was vital to the availability of the latest data as well as being the base of the SDG indicators.
Thus, he encouraged those who have yet to complete the census to take the opportunity to fill in the online census (e-Census) which has been reopened.
