Organised by PAAVAI Looms Empire in conjunction with International Women’s Day, the event challenged participants to balance the grace of traditional attire with the thrill of the sport.
“This tournament is more than just a game, it’s a movement. We want to show that the saree is not just cultural attire but a symbol of strength and versatility,” said Shalini Priyah Mogan, founder of PAAVAI Looms Empire, which was established in October 2024.
The tournament drew an enthusiastic crowd, with notable attendees including Datuk Geethanjali G, CEO of DSG Creation, news anchor Datin Logeswari Shanmugam, film director Dr Vimala Perumal, and actor-producer Denes Kumar.
As bowlers adjusted their pleats and took their shots, excitement filled the air.

Beyond competition, the event highlighted women’s empowerment, blending cultural heritage with contemporary expression.
“Women should feel free to celebrate themselves in every way possible. Events like these provide a platform to foster confidence, self-appreciation and shared celebration,” said Geethanjali.
Meanwhile, Dr Vimala Perumal emphasised the deeper message of the day: “It’s not just about the scores, it’s about appreciating each other.
"When women feel confident, they can do anything. Let’s cheer for one another, that’s the least we can do to help each other shine.” she added.
As PAAVAI Looms Empire wrapped up its debut event, Shalini hinted at more to come. “This is just the beginning. We are committed to making the saree a lifestyle choice for the modern woman.”
