A man was killed and his younger brother badly injured in a fight that took place early Sunday after the Thaipusam chariot procession on Saturday, police said.
Kuala Muda OCPD ACP Khalil Ariffin said the victim has been identified as S. Sivakumaran, 35, of Sungai Tukang, and while his injured brother, Nadarajan, in his 20's.
He said the two men were involved in a fight between two groups of people at two spots along Jalan Pasar early Sunday after they had attended the Thaipusam chariot procession on Saturday night.
Seven other people were also injured in the incident, he told reporters.
Khalil said the first fight took place at 12.05am, injuring three people while the second fight occurred 20 minutes later.
"In the second incident, Sivakumaran was killed while his younger brother and four other individuals were injured," he said.
He added police had arrested six men, aged in their 20's to 30's, and had remanded them until Jan 25 to assist in investigations.
All the men were arrested at a housing estate close to the place of the fights, he said.
