Man throws tantrum in court after father cannot afford bail
Muhammad Jabarullah Mazlan threw a tantrum after his father told the court that he could not afford the RM5,000 bail set by the court.
A man who pleaded not guilty to a charge of riding his motorcycle in a dangerous manner cried and yelled in the dock, causing a commotion in the Traffic Court here today, when his father could not post his bail.
Muhammad Jabarullah Mazlan, 23, who was unrepresented, threw a tantrum after his father told the court that he could not afford the RM5,000 bail set by Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly.
Muhammad Jabarullah was charged with riding a Kawasaki EX250 in a reckless manner which not only endangered his own life, but also other road users, at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here at 1.15am last Sept 4.
The charge, under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, provides an imprisonment for up to five years and fine of up to RM15,000, and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for two years, if found guilty.
The prosecution, conducted by prosecuting officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim, had requested bail for RM7,000 in one surety.
Husna set bail at RM5,000 in one surety and set Nov 14 for submission of document and for Muhammad Jabarullah to engage a lawyer. -- Bernama
