MetMalaysia: 5.9-magnitude quake hits Sulawesi

KUALA LUMPUR:A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale was reported to have hit Sulawesi, Indonesia at 2.35 pm today.

According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the earthquake occurred 145 kilometres west of Palopo, Indonesia.

However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
