MH17: Eldest son of cabin crew aspires to become pilot

The eldest child of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 cabin crew, Shaikh Mohd Noor Mahmood, nutures an ambition to become a pilot when he grows up.

Shaikh Danish Shaikh Mohd Noor, 13, said his ambition to become a pilot was blessed by his father.

"My father has permitted me to become a pilot... Dad said then he can 'serve' me," he told reporters after his father's funeral at the Muslim cemetery in Kampung Jawa, Klang, yesterday.

Earlier, the father's remains were taken to the Royal Mosque of Sultan Sulaiman at 10.30 am for prayers attended by 300 people. Also present was the Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Selangor state executive councillor Dr Halimah Ali.

The remains of Shaikh Mohd Noor is the last of the crew of flight MH17 to be brought home along with the remains of two other Malaysian victims.

Flight MH17 is believed to have been shot down over eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.

There were 43 Malaysians onboard, the identities of 41 victims (26 passengers and 15 crew) had been ascertained. So far, the remains of 36 Malaysian victims have been repatriated from the Netherlands.
