Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Malaysia will ask the United Nations (UN) to send a peacekeeping force so that the investigating team can immediately enter the area where the MAS flight
MH17 had crashed.

He said the presence of the UN peacekeeping force in the area could ensure that the conflicting Ukraine authorities and the separatist group in the area could fulfill their promises including a ceasefire that had been agreed upon earlier.

"The international investigating team including Malaysia had yet to enter the crash site of the MH17 in east Ukraine as the situation was still unsafe.

"We will ask the UN to act immediately so that investigation into the case could be carried out, we regret the attitude of the Ukraine government which has yet to fulfill its pledge for the investigating team to enter the area safely although various efforts and negotiations had been carried out including by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak," he said.

Liow, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bentong, said this at a media conference after launching the Bentong Bestari program at the Taman Rekreasi Sungai Marong, here today.

He said the MH17 tragedy was a world issue involving many countries and everyone should take a serious view on the matter.

"The Prime Minister has worked hard including meeting and discussing with various world leaders on the matter in the UN.

"It is now time for the UN to take action, not through discussions only," he said.

On the other two Malaysian nationals who had yet to be identified, namely Siti Amirah Prawira Kusuma, 83, and Sherliza Zaini, 45, Liow said efforts to analyse and identify the victims at the Hilversum Military Medical Camp, Holland was still uncompleted.

As such, he hoped the two Malaysian nationals could be found after all the identification works had been completed.
