MH370: It was a close call for MBA student

She mistook her flight dates, thinking that she had to be at the airport by Saturday night, but an MBA candidate at Beijing Tsinghua University ‘missed’ her MH370 flight early Saturday morning.

“I mistook the day. I thought it was Saturday night that I had to go to the airport. Upon realising my mistake, I quickly packed my bags and rushed to the airport. While on the way I called MAS an managed to change my flight. If I hadn't been able to do so, I would've boarded the plane as I still had time to catch it," said Jessica Yee Wai Ching.

She read about the ill-fated flight eventually on Saturday morning.

“I immediately called my sister that I was supposed to be on that flight. Not many knew that I was on that flight but those who knew called me. My phone was ringing the whole day,” she added.

Despite feeling lucky and blessed, she sympathised with those on board.

“It’s a mixed feeling. I do feel blessed but it’s an awful feeling to know that so many people were on board that flight and I could have been one of them on board as well.

“I do believe I’ve been given a second chance. It’s all fated. If I can escape this one time, and it if’s destined to be, I can’t escape it a second or third time,” she said.

She is scheduled to leave for Beijing on Monday morning.
