MH370: Malaysia to send two DCA reps to Perth
Acting Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein made a visit to KLIA2 earlier today.
Malaysia will be sending the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) principal assistant director Noor Izhar Baharin and assistant director of the Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre Muhammad Irfan Ahmad Baidove to be absorbed into the Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC).
Acting Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said he has informed JACC head Angus Houston that they will be heading to Perth soon to discuss with JACC and see what needs to be done further.
He added, the ministerial committees will also fly to Perth in the near future to discuss preparations needed to be done by the Malaysian side in assisting the search of the MH370 black box.
Hishammuddin, who is also Defense Minister was met during a press conference after his visit to the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, KLIA2, here on Saturday.
The Government had recently announced the establishment of three committees that are the Next-of-kin Committee, Technical Committee and the Deployment of Assets Committee in order to streamline and strengthen the search for the missing flight.
The Next-of-Kin Committee is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin, Technical Committee headed by Deputy minister of Transport Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi and the Deployment of Assets Committee is headed by Deputy Defence Minister Abdul Rahim Bakri.
JACC is currently working to identify the signal detected in the southern Indian Ocean as the search for the missing aircraft entered the 36th day today.
Malaysia Airlines MH370 went missing on March 8, about an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA ) at 12:41 midnight.
The Boeing 777- 200ER aircraft carried 227 passengers and 12 crew members was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6:30 am the same day.
On March 24, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced Flight MH370 "ended in the southern Indian Ocean." The search operation continues.
