MH370: MAS will also fly in families of passengers from other countries to KL
Aside from the families of the passengers aboard MH370 from China, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will also sponsor the next-of-kin of those in other countries to fly to Kuala Lumpur.
This is to enable them to be closely informed of the latest updates on the ongoing search and rescue operations of the missing MAS Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
Earlier today, some 200 families from China arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
MAS chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said on Monday that the airline was ready to continue flying in the families of these passengers into Malaysia.
“We have made the offer to them earlier to bring two from each family and now we have increased so that we can bring in at least five for each family,” Ahmad Jauhari told a press conference earlier this afternoon at KLIA.
However, at the moment, only two from each family will be flown in on Monday and Tuesday. The rest, said Ahmad Jauhari, will follow later.
MAS Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew, went missing en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing about two hours after taking off from KLIA at 12.41 am Saturday.
It should have landed here at 6.30 am.
