National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) director Dr Mohd Gazali Abas has been appointed as the new Human Resources Ministry secretary-general, effective today.
Mohd Gazali, 57, replaces former secretary-general Datuk Seri Adenan Abdul Rahman who went on retirement on Oct 5.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, in a statement, said Mohd Gazali has served in the civil service for more than 31 years since he joined the Administrative and Diplomatic service on Jan 13, 1986.
"Mohd Gazali has vast experiences in human resources development as well as project management and finance throughout his years in civil service," he said.
Among positions held by Mohd Gazali were ministry deputy secretary-general (operation); director of Human Capital Development Section, Economic Planning Unit; and executive director of Network of Asia Pacific Schools and Institute of Public Administration and Governance (NAPSIPAG).
Ali also thanked Adenan for his contributions throughout his more than 37 years in civil service. -- Bernama
