More than 20 individuals were held in several police raids during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the first raid was at a homestay in Masai here at about 11.30 pm with the arrest of four men, all non-occupants aged around 27.

Ayob said the second raid at an apartment unit in Johor Bahru early yesterday morning, police arrested five men and two women between the ages of 21 and 26 and seized drugs believed to be ketamine weighing 0.5 grams.

Four of them were positive for ketamine and two others for methamphetamine and two of those arrested had drug-related criminal records, he said, explaining that they were not occupants of the premises.

Ayob said the third raid was conducted at a homestay in Johor Bahru at 1 am this morning and police arrested nine individuals, including six men and three women aged 18 to 25.

"The results showed that five of them were positive for ketamine and THC and two had previous criminal and drug-related offences," he said, adding that all of them were now remanded for investigation.

Meanwhile, in LANGKAWI, five people were held in a raid at two business premises at the Kelana Mas Trade and Tourism Centre, Jalan Persiaran Putra, here after being found to be operating illegally during the MCO this afternoon.

Langkawi District Police Chief Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said three people were arrested in a raid at a premise selling telephones and telecommunication accessories while two others were arrested on premises selling liquid for electronic cigarettes (vape).
