Motorists are urged to install dashcams in their vehicles to capture traffic offences which they witness.
Peninsular Malaysia Road Transport Officers Union (KPPJSM) president Hamzah Masri said the installation of dashcams prevents drivers from using smartphones to take pictures while driving, thus prevent other hazards or accidents from occurring.
"Therefore, the installation of dashcams is necessary to record traffic offences including crime witnessed and which can be sent to the authorities for further action," he told Bernama.
Hamzah said the installation only costs RM100 depending on the quality of the dashcam.
He said the device may be installed on the front of the car to record offences such as vehicles using emergency lanes, violation of traffic lights, parking in prohibited areas and not stopping at pedestrian crossing.
People can send recorded images of traffic offences to the authorities at the following RTD traffic complaints email address at [email protected].
