Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak became the first Malaysian prime minister to set foot on Palestinian soil when he made a humanitarian visit to Gaza Tuesday.
He arrived at 10.40am (4.40pm Malaysian time) on the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing.
Najib was received by the prime minister of the Hamas Government in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, at the border crossing.
Later, Malaysia's national anthem, 'Negaraku', and the Palestine national anthem were played.
Najib also inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by the Palestinian Police Force.
Earlier, he had travelled about 55km from the El-Arish Airport in Egypt to the Rafah border crossing by road.
