Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to declare the donations in his personal account every year to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
The former prime minister said, Najib has the right to have a personal account but he needs to report the balance at the stipulated time.
"Everyone has a personal account but when we bank in money into our account, we need to declare our income tax at the end of the year. Najib also needs to declare his personal account to the IRB. It would be wrong if there is no report," he said.
Tun Dr Mahathir was speaking during a press conference after the 11th Malaysia Festival of the Mind at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) here today.
On Sunday, Najib stressed that the political funds which had been banked into his personal account was not for personal gain but to finance the party's activities and carry out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes for the people.
