Najib shares views on arts, culture with local artistes

Najib said those who were present to share their opinion with him came from different backgrounds and were involved in various branches of arts and culture.

"When talking to them I can clearly see their spirit and determination in championing the arts and culture of Malaysia," he said in his latest blog posting www.najibrazak.com.

Among artistes present were Saiful Amir from the group Almawlid, Mohd Yusri from 'Galeri Ilmu' Publication Centre, Mushamir Mustafa, operator of the Facebook page Humans of KL.

Besides, traditional musical instrument sape player Alena Murang, founder of My Performing Arts Agency Izan Satrina and Feng Shui expert Master Soon made up the list of performers.

According to Najib, Izan Satrina, for instance, mentioned about the arts and cultural ecosystem in Malaysia and the hurdles faced by local artistes to earn a honest living through these platform.

On the other hand, Ravi Shanker believed that arts could unite Malaysians regardless of their race.

"Datuk Lat spoke about his childhood days and how arts was instilled (in him) as early as a 10-year-old," said the Prime Minister.

"Mushamir shared his views on expanding talent among teenagers in school and the importance of eliminating stigma that arts is a second class subject," said Najib who was attracted by the tie donned by 'The Humans of KL' Facebook page administrator since it was the government official tie in the 1960s and might become a trend setting fashion today.
