Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has asked the United States (US) court to allow his lawyers to view documents and statements from Goldman Sachs in preparation for the 1MDB case.
According to a Bloomberg report, in a filing in Manhattan Court, Najib's law enforcement team asked the court to allow a subpoena against Goldman Sachs and the company's former Southeast Asian chairman Tim Leissner.
Leissner previously pleaded guilty in Federal Court in Brooklyn and pleaded guilty to bribing authorities in Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates for the bank to handle the issuance of bonds.
Goldman Sachs previously agreed to pay a $ 2.3 billion fine and pleaded guilty.
According to the report, a Goldman Sachs spokesman did not respond to Najib's request.
Leissner's attorney also declined to comment.
