Number of flood evacuees in Sarawak 7,965 as at noon
According to the Sarawak Department of Civil Defence, the situation in the flood-hit areas was expected to improve as the weather was getting better in the three divisions.
The number of flood evacuees in the Kuching, Serian and Samarahan divisions rose slightly to 7,965 from 2,051 families at noon today from 7,931 from 2,033 families this morning.
Sarawak Department of Civil Defence public relations officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said another relief centre was opened this morning in the Bau district, raising to 48 the total number of centres in the three divisions.
She said the situation in the flood-hit areas was expected to improve as the weather was getting better in the three divisions.
