Only AG's report submitted as supporting document to PAC classified under OSA
NUR JAZLAN: The PAC's summarised report can be tabled in Parliament
Only support documents from the Auditor-General (AG) that accompany the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the administration of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is classified under the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA).
The PAC's summarised report can be tabled in Parliament, said Deputy Home Minister I Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
"The report classified under the OSA is the AG's report. It must be made clear to avoid any misunderstanding," he said attending an Excellent Service Awards presentation for the Prison Department's Intan Kampus Wilayah Selatan (IKHWAS), here Saturday.
What is important is that the PAC report need the consensus of all panel members to ensure the report from the committee has credibility, said Nur Jazlan.
"The PAC report will be accompanied by support documents from the AG. Since the AG report is a support document to the PAC report, it can be tabled," said Nur Jazlan, the former PAC chairman when commenting on the uncertainty surrounding the tabling of the AG and PAC report in Parliament.
Yesterday, PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said the auditor-general classified the final report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972 in light of information leaks on its interim report submitted last July.
Hasan had said it would be up to the AG to decide whether to lift the OSA declaration on the final 1MDB report or not, and only after the PAC has tabled its findings on the matter in Dewan Rakyat.
