Parents and educators are the key pillars to implementing a culture of integrity in generations Y and Z, and not only through the formal education system alone.
The Malaysian Institute of Integrity (MII) president, Dr Anis Yusal Yusoff, said although the recommendations were already often made, the scenario among the the country's people remained status quo.
"I believe that a culture of integrity should be inculcated since childhood by parents and family members before the child enters school, which would eventually become an inseparable culture.
"They are a generation of 'people who walk the talk', if we only give speeches or talk about integrity, the understanding and awareness of the matter will not have the deserved impact on the generation," he said during his presentation at the 2015 People-Government Synergy seminar here, Thursday.
Anis Yusal stressed that the enhancement of ethics and integrity in one's daily life was important to reach the level of advanced countries and people who had high and strong moral, religious and spiritual values.
