PAS will consider nominating singer Aishah in one of the parliamentary seats in Negeri Sembilan for the upcoming 13th General Election (GE-13).
The singer’s name was handed over from Negeri Sembilan PAS to PAS Central and is now under consideration.
PAS General Secretary Datuk Mustafa Ali confirmed the report but a decision has yet to be made.
“PAS Central has received Aishah’s name to be a candidate for the upcoming General Election.
“Right now, it is still under consideration and a decision has not been made,” he said when contacted by Astro Awani.
According to a source from Negeri Sembilan PAS, Aishah will be a candidate for Jempol parliamentary seat.
“Aishah was chosen because her name was submitted by Jempol PAS and only Negeri Sembilan PAS has received her candidacy.
“Negeri Sembilan PAS is waiting for the ‘green light’ to announce Aishah as a candidate for the general election,” said the souce to Astro Awani.
Aishah, or her real name Wan Aishah Wan Arifin joined PAS last year. She submitted her membership application to PAS spiritual leader, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat in a ceremony at PAS Tarbiyah Centre in Taman Melewar.
Born in Negeri Sembilan, the singer is a political science graduate from Auckland University.
Her rise to fame began when she formed The Fan Club in 1989 before becoming a solo artiste a year later.
She is popular in 90’s for her songs Janji Manismu and Camar Yang Pulang and her covers of some classical Malay songs like Fatwa Pujangga and Bahtera Merdeka.
