People advised to use public transport tomorrow
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh advised the public, especially those entering the city, to use public transportation tomorrow to avoid congestion in view of a gathering to be held in the city.
He said those who had no urgent matters to attend to in the city should avoid certain routes in several locations tomorrow.
Police personnel would be on duty from 6am to monitor and control situation in the city, he added.
Mohmad said police would focus on 12 locations, namely Pasar Seni, Pudu Sentral, Masjid Jamek, Maju Junction, Sogo Complex, the National Mosque, KTM
Komuter stations, KLCC, Sultan Sulaiman Club, Ar-Rahman Mosque, KL Sentral and the Kampung Baru Mosque.
"The Tracker Dog Unit (K9) will also be mobilised to avoid any untoward incident," he told a media conference at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters here today.
In another development, police detained a Nigerian man and seized drug, worth RM1.5 million, at a road block mounted at the exit of the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway near Taman Desa about 1.30am last Wednesday.
Kuala Lumpur Narcotic Crime Investigation Department head ACP Wan Abdullah Ishak said the suspect was travelling in a taxi and attempted to flee when it stopped at the road block.
"He was seen throwing two plastic packages on the road and this led police to detain him," he told reporters here.
The 37-year-old suspect is in remand until Wednesday to facilitate police investigation, he added.
