Development projects that answer the people's wishes are among the agenda of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Dewan Rakyat here on Thursday.
In Kelantan, for instance, the people's wishes were answered in the form of Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Expressway, expansion of Sultan Ismail Petra Airport and the integrated flood mitigation project through the construction of dams in Sungai Nenggiri and Sungai Lebir, Gua Musang.
Kelantan UMNO liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the construction of the expressway was a long-awaited project, while the expansion of the airport was apt as it could no longer meet the current demand of passengers.
"Both projects will not only provide comfort to the people, but will also boost the state's economy," he said in a statement here on Thursday.
Mustapa, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, said the flood mitigation project would definitely reduce the losses suffered by the people due to floods each year.
Meanwhile, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin said the 11MP's focus on the people's wellbeing, such as through the construction of affordable houses, hospital and the implementation of the Gemas-Johor Baharu electrified double-tracking project, would bring about positive impact to the people and the state's development.
Besides, he said the implementation of the Pengerang 2 regasification project was seen to be able of changing the landscape of the country's oil and gas industry.
"Overall, I believe Johor will benefit from the allocation given by the federal government, which will definitely boost the country's economic growth until we achieve the status of a fully developed nation in 2020," he said in a statement.
For Sabah, issues relating to indigenous land rights, construction of the Pan Borneo Expressway and development corridors other than Kota Kinabalu, were also given extra focus in the 11MP.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the five-year development plan had also taken into consideration the interests of the people in Sabah.
Hence, he said the state government and the people were truly thankful to the federal government for the concern and commitment for Sabah through the 11MP.
