People want economic, political stability, not fabricated allegations - Salleh

The people want economic and political stability in the country, which is what the present government is offering, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

He said economic and political stability are matters of the voters' heartbeat and allegations fabricated by the opposition do not suffice to oust the current Prime Minister nor the current government.

Thus, the minister questioned Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's recent statement that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is going to fall in the next general election.

"Is this based on a scientific study such as a poll or based on tea leaves reading?

"The opposition is in such a mess that the voters do not see any alternative to the present government," he said in his blog sskeruak.blogspot.my.

Salleh also cited as an example the legal action taken against the opposition such as Petaling Jaya Utara member of Parliament, Tony Pua for his defamatory statements against the Prime Minister.

"Fabricated allegations against the Prime Minister are not enough to oust him. We shall see how Tony Pua, who is a member of the PAC (Public Accounts Committee), defends his latest allegation in court.

"That will determine whether all those allegations are true or not," he said.

Yesterday, Najib demanded Tony Pua apologise and retract defamatory statements which were uploaded on his (Tony Pua's) Facebook.

According to lawyer Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, who is representing Najib in his personal capacity, the defamatory statements uttered and published by Pua on April 6, 2017, were entitled "BN govt abandons all bills to give precedence to PAS' RUU355 Private Member's Bill". -- Bernama
