Perkasa rejects Ibrahim Ali's resignation as president
The Supreme Council of Right wing Malay non-government organisation Perkasa has unanimously rejected the resignation of its president Datuk Ibrahim Ali and instead agreed to extend his leave till its annual general meeting in December.
Perkasa deputy president Datuk Abd Rahman Abu Bakar said the council and Perkasa members throughout the country were hoping that Ibrahim would continue to helm Perkasa in defending the rights of the Malays and Islam which was becoming increasingly challenging.
"Ibrahim is a tested and proven leader. We are solidly behind him and hope he will return to lead Perkasa again," he told a press conference after a meeting of the council here today.
Ibrahim had submitted his resignation on May 7 to Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali citing he wanted to make way for fresh faces.
On another matter, Abd Rahman said Perkasa had congratulated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the Barisan Nasional's victory in Sunday's 13th General Election and for regaining support for the coalition from the Malays, as compared to the situation in the 2008 general election.
