According to the ministry, the theme highlights the need to advance the energy agenda by strengthening relations among ASEAN countries to achieve collective prosperity and progress in the region.
"This will improve the lives of our citizens through economic growth that prioritises the inclusivity and sustainability agenda," it said in a statement.
The theme was unveiled in conjunction with the ASEAN Special Senior Officials Meeting on Energy held on Jan 23, following a series of associated meetings held a day earlier.
PETRA said the meeting adopted the proposed eight annual priorities for the ASEAN energy sector 2025.
"Mainly, under the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) agenda, are the endorsement to sign the APG enhanced memorandum of understanding (MoU) document and discussion of the terms of references for the subsea power cable development framework and the announcement on the financing mechanism for the APG," it said.
Additionally, it said the meeting also adopted the endorsement to sign the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement (APSA) successor agreement; launch the ASEAN Energy Efficiency Database and Investment Platform (Building); finalisation the Renewable Energy Long-term Roadmap (RE LTR) and initiate the development framework for ASEAN Renewable Energy Certificate.
It also adopted the endorsement of the policy document on the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030 as well as the initiation of a framework development for nuclear power plant deployment.
The meeting also adopted two energy-related priority economic deliverables 2025 outputs, namely the signing of the APG enhanced MoU and the launch of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030 documents.
"These two documents are important for fostering continued cooperation among ASEAN member countries in advancing the energy sector, thereby ensuring a secure and sustainable energy supply for the region," it said.
The meeting also adopted the launching of the APAEC 2026-2030 policy document and the signing of the proposed APG enhanced MoU and the ASEAN framework agreement on petroleum security documents.
"The meeting also discussed the draft of the APSA followed by a presentation from the ASEAN Centre of Energy on the terms of reference for subsea power cable development framework, both of which will form the essential supporting structure of the ASEAN Power Grid aspiration," it said.
ASEAN Special Senior Officials Meeting on Energy was hosted by PETRA from Jan 22 to 24 in Langkawi, Kedah.
The first day of the meeting was attended by ASEAN delegates from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Timor Leste was an observer.
