Please forgive my mother, Aliff

Today, the nation mourns the passing of Datuk Sharifah Aini, 61 who died peacefully at a private hospital here at 1.26am this morning after suffering from chronic.

Sharifah's son Aliff Omar Ali when met after the funeral at Bukit Kiara Muslim burial ground, seeks for forgiveness on behalf of his mother. He also seeks fans to offer their prayers for his late mother.

Aliff said that he is deeply grateful for the kindness demonstrated by all quarters who had come forward to assist his family in the funeral procession today.

He said, Sharifah has left him and the family an important message which he claimed a tad too personal to be shared with the songstress' legions of fans.

Aliff who is currently studying in Madinah said his return to Malaysia is to spend a three-month break with his beloved mother.

Sharifah Aini was to have celebrated her 61st birthday last Wednesday. On Tuesday, she was admitted to the Intensive care unit of Damansara Specialist Hospital for breathing difficulties.

In the last two years she has been treated for fibrosis of the lungs, also known as interstitial lung disease. According to her doctor, Dato’ Dr Zainudin Md Zain, the condition causes scarring or hardening of the lungs. Aliff along with some close family members and friends were by her side.
