PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announces a Cabinet reshuffle at 11 am today which, among other things, will see an increase in the number of ministers.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said that there will be a slight increase in the number of cabinet ministers.

"(But) Smaller than before. Smaller than the previous, slightly," he said when asked if the reshuffle would involve an increase in the number of ministers and the largest cabinet.

He told this to reporters when met after the Finance Ministry monthly assembly here today.

Anwar also hinted that he would be transferring his current responsibilities.

"I'm transferring some of my tasks," he said.

The cabinet formed by the Unity Government in December 2022 consists of 28 ministers and 27 deputy ministers, including the Prime Minister and two Deputy Prime Ministers.

The portfolio of the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living became vacant following the death of its incumbent Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub last July.

Salahuddin, 61, died at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar, Kedah, on July 23, after undergoing surgery due to a brain haemorrhage.

The position is currently held by Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali who is the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Duties).
