Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to launch the Johor Strategic Development Plan in conjunction with his one-day working visit to the state today.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, will launch the plan and the Iskandar Malaysia Comprehensive Development Plan II (CDPii) at the Educity Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, near here.

The development plan comprises a strategic vision and comprehensive development for each district in Johor according to specific sectors for a period of five years.

A statement from the Menteri Besar's Office said CDPii will focus on social and environment management besides development prospects offered in the Iskandar Region.

Prior to launching this plan, Najib will also attend the unveiling of the Forest City real estate development project by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in Gelang Patah.

The project will create more than 220,000 job opportunities for local residents come 2015 in eight sectors including education, medical care and tourism.

The environmentally friendly Forest CIty will be built on four man-made lakes sprawled over 1,400 hectares and will be built over nine phases and completed in 20 years.

Before ending his state visit, Najib will officially launch the Johor Urban Transformation Centre which is the eighth to be opened by the prime minister, thus far, after two in Kuala Lumpur and one each in Melaka, Perak, Pahang, Kedah and Sabah.
