PM Najib rubbishes Altantuya killer's allegation

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has rubbished the allegation by ex-commando, Sirul Azhar Umar who had said that he was under orders in the murder of Mongolian model, Altantuya Shaariibuu.

He was asked to comment by reporters after the Chinese New Year celebration message today on Sirul’s claims that 'important people with motive are still free'.

Najib who had earlier shook his head when asked the question, finally said “rubbish” while smiling.

On Wednesday, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said Sirul had his rights to reveal what happened in the murder of the model.

“That is his right. I don’t know what he is going to expose so how would I know if it is good or bad,” he had said.

Sirul, in an interview with online portal Malaysiakini said he was under orders in the murder case. He said he is mulling a tell-all interview with Australian media on the case.

The Federal Court had issued a warrant of arrest on Sirul who did not turn up in court for the verdict. In criminal proceedings, the accused person should be present in court when his case is called up in court.

The Court had overturned the acquittal of two Special Action Unit (UTK) personnel, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 38, and Sirul, 43, for the murder Altantuya and sentenced them to the gallows.
