Police hope to nab more individuals in child-for-sale racket

Penang police have identified a number of individuals in connection with the child-for-sale racket that was busted by police recently.

Penang Police Chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said police would be able to nab those identified soon.

"We have not made any new arrest yet and the case is still under investigation but we have identified a number of individuals who may be connected to the syndicate.

"We cannot reveal any other information but I can say that a number of other individuals are involved with the syndicate," he told reporters at the Penang Police Headquarters here today.

On January 24, Penang police uncovered the sale of babies and child-for-sale syndicate which had been active in Penang, Kedah and Perak, and rescued eight babies and children, aged between two months and eight years.

The anti-sales of babies and children operation, dubbed Ops Pintas Sayang, which was launched to track down the individuals involved in the syndicate, had seen the arrest of 33 suspects last week, and another last Sunday.
