Police nab suspects who assaulted harumanis mango plantation owner
The police have detained two men who allegedly attacked a harumanis mango plantation owner during an attempt to steal 50kg of mangoes from his plantation.
The police have detained two men who allegedly attacked a harumanis mango plantation owner during an attempt to steal 50kg of mangoes from his plantation in Sanglang last Monday.
Termidzi Tafadzol, 38, sustained injuries on the forehead when the suspects struck him with a stick and a piece of bamboo in their bid to escape with the mangoes from the 1.68 hectare plantation in Kampung Simpang.
Kangar police chief, Supt Wari Kiew said the suspects, aged 21 and 25 were picked up on the same day from a nearby village and remanded at the Simpang Empat police station.
Termidzi, who received eight stitches for the forehead injury, said he incurred losses amounting to RM1,250 during the incident which occurred about 4.30pm.
"Although the suspects fled the plantation, leaving behind two sacks of harumanis mangoes, I still incurred losses because the 50kg of mangoes which had not matured, were plucked from three trees.
"In an attempt to apprehend the duo, I pursued them for about 100 metres before a struggle ensued and I was beaten up with a stick and bamboo," he added.
