Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa has urged all parties to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should they know any civil servants who had been living in a too lavish lifestyle.

He also asked the families of civil servants to play a role in advising them to repent and return to the right path should they have gone astray.

“I think the salary of civil servants is quite enough to live in simplicity but not in luxury. If anyone sees any civil servant living a luxurious lifestyle, please report it to the MACC or if you're a family member, advice them,” he said in a speech during the 2016 INTAN Public Administration Postgraduate Diploma conferment ceremony in Putrajaya, Thursday.

Ali calls for the MACC to hunt down those who are involved in corruption, saying that it is important as those people had tarnished the image of civil servants in the country.

"We have 1.6 million civil servants, and there are about 30 individuals being investigated, it jeopardises the civil servant's name. So I encourage the MACC to look for these people," he said.

Besides that, he also reminded civil servants to carry out their duties with full integrity.

Meanwhile, Ali suggested that any project that costs more than RM500 million, must have the involvement from the Auditor-General and the MACC.

“Now, for high end projects like the MRT, the Auditor-General, the project exco and the MACC deputy director-general are already there.

"That is for high end projects, now I am suggesting for any projects that costs more than RM500 million to also have the participation from the two agencies.” he added.
