While the frontliners are thinking of various approaches as an exit strategy to end the Movement Control Order (MCO) in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, the public should also play a role by using their own 'strategy'.

Rather than to just wait, the public should together shoulder the responsibility in breaking the chain of the COVID-19 infection, if they do not want to be “confined” at home longer.

The reduction in cases being treated or infectivity cases is important so that the task of controlling will be better, said Health Director-General, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah yesterday.

He said the reduction in cases still being treated is an indicator to be used when advising the National Security Council (MKN) to end the MCO.

Yesterday, there were 2,198 infectivity cases, with only 69 new positive cases, giving hope for Dr Noor Hisham, as the “war general”, to see the number of infectivity cases dropping.

The hard work and strategy by the frontliners will be futile if many of us still have that lackadaisical attitude towards MCO by being out in the streets for no reason.

This is despite repeated advise from Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob that it is an offence for the people to move around without reasonable cause during MCO.

“Don't brag about breaking the law and then ask others to do the same,” he said at his daily briefing on the MCO yesterday.

If the frontliners are looking at reducing the infectivity cases, it will be of help for the public to also have their own exit strategy by reducing the frequency of leaving their homes during the MCO period. - BERNAMA
