'Red Shirt' rally organisers deny receiving RM3 mil cheque from Najib
JAMAL: 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' is not connected to Najib and has never received any allocation from him or the government.
Malay non-government coalition chairman Datuk Jamal Md Yunos has refuted allegations that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak issued a RM3 million cheque to organise the 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' rally.
He stressed the organisers of the gathering, which was held in the national capital yesterday, did not receive any allocation from the Prime Minister or government.
"I want to deny the allegations. I want to stress that the 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' is not connected to Najib and has never received any allocation from him or the government," he said in a statement tonight.
Jamal said the claim was libellous and baseless disseminated by irresponsible quarters.
The rally, which was held at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, was organised by the National Silat Federation in protest of the Bersih 4 gathering Aug 29 and 30.
